Feb 15, 2011 A guitar lesson of Merrily, an exercise from book one of The Guitarist's Way by Peter Nuttall & John Whitworth. Loads more free lessons can be found. The Guitarist's Way, Book 3. The Guitarist's Way (Books 1 to 4) John Whitworth & Peter Nuttall. This 4-volume teaching series continues to be enormously successful and popular. It aims to stimulate young players in particular, with all new technical and musical ideas introduced one by one in a lucid and logical fashion.
I can't understand what all the fuss is about: * No text or explanations to speak of - you'd definitely need to have a teacher if using this book. * You have to wait to page 5 before finding anything that sounds like a tune, i.e. An unnecessarily boring introduction, and many of the other tunes in the book are rather dull.
* No teacher accompaniments. You wouldn't find a piano/wind/string/brass book without teacher accompaniments - for good reason. Even the more boring tunes in this book could be rescued with artful teacher accompaniments + the better tunes could sound much more musical. * Poor amateurish presentation/artwork. * Juvenile style OK for young children, but not a book that would suit cool teenagers or adults. I've used this book from time to time with students coming from other teachers. It's OK as far as it goes.
The Guitarist's Way - Book 1 has 26 ratings and 0 reviews. This series is designed primarily for those who are taking their first steps in playing the gu.
It's just not very inspiring and there are better books available. It's also quite expensive considering it's only 16 pages long, and most of the book consists of simple folk songs that any guitar teacher could put together over a weekend. On the plus side there are about three good tunes at the end of the book, which is why I give it two stars rather than one.
Anonymous - (Norfolk). Brilliant book for the 7 to 10 years age group and a little older. Studying all four volumes is good preparation for Graded exams Prelim to Grade 2.
Its worth getting hold of the CD's that accompany the seris - you can teach the hear and copy method for the very young and supplement the books with other materials from the series. Wince Cab Manager 3 Serial. Schwefelgelb Alt Und Neu Rar. All my students have achieved Merits and Distinctions in early grades having followed this seris.
