Owl City, an American electronic/synthpop group from Owatonna, Minnesota, was formed by singer and songwriter Adam Young in 2007. Young created the band while experimenting with music in parents' basement.

As Owl City, Young developed a following[clarification needed] through MySpace before signing with Universal Republic.
