I had installed Microsoft Office Accounting 2009 Professional version on my old computer using Windows 7. Now have a new machine using Windows 8. I have re-installed the Express version of Accounting 2009 which enabled me to use the basic program but I then tried the activation code on the Upgrade button and entered the product key. When I proceeded with the process of activation over internet, however this process failed with error message 53762. Now when I re-launch the program I go straight to the activation window and not to the home window that enables me to use the program. No amount of retires changes the position and the back button is greyed out.

Repeat the above so that you can access the same folder on your new computer/drive and then change the extension on the current dll files to 'old' without the apostrophise. Then copy into the folder the dll files taken from your old computer or backup. You should then be able to open MS Accounting 2009. I have done this but not in time to be able to recover my professional version. Do not make the mistake if you have the basic version operating of trying to upgrade as the MS end no longer responds. Should you do so and get locked out just recopy the original dll files from the old computer back into this folder.
