TOMTOM maps arent free. You have to buy the Map and then subscribe to updates at around $A100 per year. Because of the update costs I got rid of my TOMTOM and bought a Garmin which came with Aust and NZ maps and has a lifetime free update service for both maps included. Discography Avicii there.

If you have a TOMTOM already you can download a NZ Map and any updates on line. If you are sticking to the main routes I would question the need for this cost for only 9 days. If you are a member of your local Automobile Association I understand you have reciprocal rights here in NZ. The NZ AA have free maps which would be more than adequate.
